Since April 1, Hayley has taken her rightful place as RudHair’s Colour Director after passing her Goldwell colour degree with a whopping 92%. Goldwell is one of the world’s top colour houses, with a reputation for being kinder and softer to hair (all its colours have natural inbuilt treatments and the lowest ammonia in the industry – which is why we stock them). Its Master Colourist degree is Goldwell’s top course – and we couldn’t be prouder of Hayley.
For six weeks, Hayley spent both of her days off attending courses on hair science and health – learning the chemistry and biology of hair and how it reacts – and learning inspiring techniques
and creative artistry. Each week, there would be a presentation and exam – and plenty of homework. Being dyslexic, Hayley was worried about the written tests – particularly the final exam. “I came home and cried after the test, thinking I’d failed. Turns out I passed! In fact, I came second in the class.”
Hayley trained with L’Oreal, which gave her an excellent base understanding of colour – but Goldwell took her understanding to the next level. “Goldwell encourage you to be creative, to make your own colours, and to use different colours on different sections.” She’s already passing her knowledge on to other salon staff. “Now I can explain things better. Before, I used to just say ‘do it this way.’ Now I can explain why.”
